The European Commissioner told the press that she had congratulated the President of the Republic “for his leadership and his action on migration” adding: “I hope that he will be recognized and praised for this action at the African Union-Union Summit which will be held in Brussels”.

“We have very good cooperation between the European Union and Niger and the objective of my visit here was to learn more, to hear and to exchange with interlocutors such as the Minister of the Interior, in order to deepen and expand our cooperation in migration management, security and border surveillance,” said Ylva Johansson.

”I listened to President Mohamed Bazoum and heard his views on areas to be strengthened and his analysis of the security situation around Niger,” she said.

“Niger has the right approach to migration, a normal and manageable phenomenon, and it is a phenomenon that will not go away, the main thing is to manage it together and in an orderly manner”, indicated the Commissioner. , saying she is “very satisfied” with her stay in Niger.
